The Chase for 30

My MLB Stadium Chase
1985 to 2024

I did it... I REALLY DID IT!
I completed a LIFE LONG Dream of attending a game in EVERY MLB stadium!
It took nearly 40 years but I DID IT!

This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a baseball game in EVERY Major League Baseball in America. It all begin with a dream my DAD had. He wanted to go to every MLB Stadium before he died and it all began in 1985 with a Royals game when I was 2.5 years old. By the time I was 19 years old, I had 23 of the 30 stadiums checked off my list thanks to my amazing parents who literally took my sister, Allison, and I around the United States chasing my dad's dream.

Unfortunately, I do not have pictures from each of these stadiums as "back in the day" we did not have the smart phones and constant picture taking. But I definitely have the memories.

Everyone always asked me what my favorite MLB Stadium is so I am keeping a running list:

#1- Fenway Park Boston Red Sox (1998)
Even as a Yankee fan, this stadium is an absolutely incredible experience. The nostalgia of this park really hits home and the Green Monster is just AWESOME! How can you be a true baseball fan and not absolutely LOVE Fenway Park? It is the best experience in baseball, in my opinion.

#2- Yankee Stadium New York Yankees (1996, 1998, 2000 and 2023)
It doesn't matter if it is "New Yankee Stadium" or "Old Yankee Stadium" it gives me all the feels. Again, the nostalgia is just incredible and it makes for a great experience. I absolutely LOVE that the NYC subway is literally right at the stadium. New Yankee Stadium lived up to the Old Stadium in my book; plus the food options were spot on!

Just 3 more to go... April 2023.

I LOVED sharing this with my favorite people!

#3- Oracle Park San Francisco Giants (2021 and 2024)
I did not expect this stadium to be in my Top 10, let alone my Top 5 but this stadium was FANTASTIC. This was my 1st California stadium after a very long and anxious wait to get to my final 7 stadiums and I think that has something to do with it's ranking but most other "chasers" will agree Oracle is definitely at the Top of most fan's list. The scenery is beautiful. The food is unique and the overall layout of the stadium is well laid out and well maintained.

Just 4 more to go... June 2021.

This stadium BLEW ME AWAY... I was not expecting to love it this much!

BACK here in September 2024 for my FINAL CHASE... Just one more to go (Oakland)!

Just one more to go...

This ballpark is absoltuely stunning! I love the views from the upper-deck!
I am so grateful I got to experience all this with my sister as well! Thank you Allie!

#4-Wrigley Field Chicago Cubs (1996 and 1998)
This is another nostalgia stadium and I love the "old time baseball feel" you get when you walk through the gates. The ivy in center field is also so lusciously green. The fans also make this a great baseball experience, even if you are like my family and I and hate the "Cubies".

#5- Oriole Park at Camden Yards Baltimore Orioles (late 90s)
This stadium is very unique and is built around an old railroad station that served Baltimore and Ohio railroad for years. The Warehouse in the right field area of the field makes for a great backdrop. The concourse is very wide for a "newer" style stadium and I LOVED Eutaw street just outside the stadium. I wasn't even sure if it was "in or out" of the stadium as it felt as if I was walking in the stadium. Due to being on the coast and bay, the food options were to die for! The seafood that was added to typical baseball fare made for some mouth watering options such as "crab fries".

#6- Chase Field (It will ALWAYS be the "BOB" to me) Arizona Diamondbacks (2021)
Ever since this stadium was built and it had a HOT TUB in centerfield, I wanted to go to this stadium. I literally dreamed about stadium and how awesome it would be to be in the hot tub during a game. I was not able to grab this one with my parents but it was the 1st in our WEST COAST chase that included the kids. This was the first of the crying in baseball for me. I was so excited to be in the stadium that I just started crying! I loved the retractable roof and the upper level concourse was well laid out!

Just 5 more to go (all California)- April 2021.

The start of our chase WITH THE KIDS!

#7- PNC Park Pittsburg Pirates (2002), Three Rivers Stadium (1988 and 1992)
This was the very first "NEW" park that I traveled with my parents after having been at the original stadium Three Rivers Stadium of which my family and I visited twice. Keep in mind that this stadium was absolutely disgusting and I have not met a single person who has been to Three Rivers that had anything nice to say about the stadium. PNC Park, on the other hand, is gorgeous and the river and city in the background make for a very memorable view. The walk from the parking to the stadium across the bridge is something I will certainly not forget. This was one of my last trips with my family and I remember having great seats and enjoying a very close game! My kids have been to PNC Park and Luke also ranks it in his Top 10.

#8- Dodger Stadium Los Angeles Dodgers (2024)
This one may have had some emotions attached to it's ranking but this was a great CLASSIC experience and I loved this stadium. I was able to see it for the 1st time in 2002 when the Pride of Oklahoma traveled to the Rose Bowl and we had a Marching rehearsal in the Dodger Stadium parking lot. At the time, I had been dying to get the California stadiums and finish my chase and the timing was not right. But I waited, rather patiently I would say, and 2 decades later, I was able to check this one off my list as #28/30. The stadium was in a valley and the mountains in the background gave me all the feels. The concourse was not near as nice as other stadiums and it was not laid out incredibly well but I still loved the experience. We were able to see Mookie Bets hit #1,500 at this game and that, too, was a memorable experience.

Just 2 more to go- April 2024.

My family was not a fan (too old school for them) but I LOVED Dodger Stadium!

#9- Citi Field (2023) and Shea Stadium (1998)
Shea Stadium was old, gross and run down. Citi Field was EPIC! I think I just had such a trashy memory of Shea Stadium that ANYTHING would be incredible compared to it but Citi Field was HIGHLY IMPRESSIVE. I loved the Apple from Shea Stadium in the center field concourse. I also loved the constant airplanes flying over as it is so close to LaGuardia airport. But my favorite part was the atrium as you entered the stadium from the subway! They built this incredibly well! Our experience at Citi Field was shortened as it was 40* and we were in shorts. We all put on hoodies but we were SO COLD (We are just dumb Houstonians thinking a NY April evening would be chilly and not down right cold). We ended up buying TWO blankets and waiting in the concourse a lot just to stay warm. But I really did love this stadium.

We all LOVED Citi Field!

It was SO COLD but memories were certainly made!

#10- Safeco Field Seattle Mariners (2016 & 2025)
This was the very first of my WEST COAST Chase and was one of the first few with Chris. We planned an entire Alaskan cruise around this stadium and it was a great experience. We took a tour of the stadium prior to the game and we learned so much. I loved the cold air (even in June) and the gorgeous sunset looking over the Puget Sound during the 7th inning of the game. Ken Griffey Jr and Randy Johnson were baseball heroes of mine and I loved getting to see the history of their game at this stadium!

Just 6 to go- June 2016. (This was the start of my WEST COAST Chase)!

I really liked this stadium- the Pre-Game tour was AWESOME!

The kids really enjoyed this stadium!

Kellie- Chase complete
Natalie & Luke- Stadium #23
Chris- #4 (repeat)

#11- Old Busch Stadium St. Louis Cardinals (Bi-Annually for at least 12 years)
This stadium was AWESOME and had a lot of nostalgia. The Cardinals are my Dad's favorite team of all time and we visited this park a lot. It was also centrally located for most trips we took from NE Texas so we usually stopped at Busch on our way to a new stadium or on our way home. This was always a favorite pastime of mine as we almost always had 2 stadiums in a vacation! I have not been to new Busch Stadium but my kids have and they both loved the experience!

#12- Kauffman Stadium Kansas City Royals (Bi-Annually for at least 12 years)
This stadium is SO UNIQUE with the pretty crown in the outfield with fountains running all throughout the game. The Royals were also a favorite team of my Dad and this was my very first stadium at less than 3 years old. This was another common stadium we stopped at on our way home from seeing another stadium on our Bucket List. This has a great family feel to it and has CLASSIC baseball vibes.

#13- Minute Maid Park Houston Astros and our HOME TEAM (2012- present 4-6x/ year)
This is a great stadium and the vibe inside is awesome. I love the retractable roof, although I have only seen 2 games with it open as it is always HOT and humid in Houston. I love the train in left field and the Crawford boxes are my favorite section of the park.
Disclaimer- I have also been to the Astrodome about a dozen times as it was also my "home team" during my teen years in East Texas. Our youth group would travel to Astro World and end the night at an Astros game about 2 times each summer! I loved the Astrodome but Minute Maid is so much better!
Further Disclaimer- I refuse to call it Daiken... NOPE

My first visit to Minute Maid- Summer 2008.

Natalie's 1st Game- Opening Day 2012.

Luke's 1st Game- Summer 2013

Opening Weekend Ballpark Tour- April 2014

My All-Time favorite Minute Maid picture- Summer 2022.

#14- Coors Field Colorado Rockies (1994 and 1999)
How can you not LOVE a stadium a MILE HIGH and snow-capped mountains in the center field view. I do remember both games being VERY cold, even in the summer, and there being a brutal wind sitting up at the very top of the upper deck! I truly believe this is one of the most gorgeous views in baseball and I would recommend any true baseball fan to visit Coors Field at least once in their lifetime!

#15- The Ballpark in Arlington Texas Rangers (too many to count)
This was my HOME Stadium growing up in Tyler, TX and we visited this stadium 3 to 5 times a season when I was a teenager. I remember taking youth trips to Six Flags, located in the same parking lot, and then ending the night at the baseball field and getting home at 3AM. The games in this stadium were HOT and I have gotten MANY sunburns from watching games in this stadium but it will always hold a special place in my heart! I have been to the new Globe Life Field and honestly, I was not a fan. Maybe I am just holding on to the Ballpark in Arlington but I just didn't get the "feels" like with other stadiums! It is nice to have a consistent 75* and no sunburns but I would much rather go back to the Ballpark in Arlington... It just has better baseball vibes IMO!

Chris took me to the Ballpark in Arlington for my 24th birthday- September 2006.

Baseball- A KLINGSICK tradition. My 1st Post-Season Game- September 2010.

Our 1st game in New Globe Life Field Stadium- July 2022.

#16- Petco Park San Diego Padres (2022)
This stadium was gorgeous and centrally located in San Diego. I loved it being built around the Western Metal Supply building. The views of downtown from behind home plate are unique and I love the weather. Petco is known for "not having a bad seat" and all of the seats area actually tilted and facing home plate. This, however, made our body and overall experience kind of odd. We were lined up awkwardly and it was hard to talk to each other without getting a "crick" in your neck. The game experience was also not a great one for us as it was the Home Opener for the Padres and coming out of Covid in California, it was VERY understaffed. We waited over an hour for food. We also ended up moving from our upper deck seats behind home plate to a far right field upper deck section so we can sit more comfortably. We took a tour of this stadium and I am glad we did as if I was basing this only on our game experience, it might be even lower.

Just 3 more to go- April 2022.

Padres Home Opener- April 2022.

#17- Progressive Field (It will always be THE JAKE to me) Cleveland Guardians (And they will always be The Indians to me)  2000
I loved this stadium and it's downtown feel. This is one of the first parks that I remember having the downtown view and feel and I loved it. The stadium was laid out well in it's upper concourse level and the fans were loud and proud. I remember the game being a "Dollar Dog" night and my family and I being able to chow down on many hot dogs. I also remember this game was against the Yankees and my sister and I were (are) die-hard Yankees fans. We wore our Yankees attire and this made for a very loud and aggressive game sitting in the Cleveland Indians section. In fact, this one game may be the most memorable game of my entire Chase with my family!

#18- SkyDome Toronto Blue Jays- (Mid 90s)
I really enjoyed this stadium as it was in the central downtown area of Toronto and on near the water. I also LOVED the CN Tower that was located right next door. In fact, we were able to go up into the CN Tower before our game and see the stadium with the roof open which I will never forget. This was also a unique experience as we were able to watch a game in Canada and experience that in all it's glory- like 2 National Anthems. I do not remember much about the concourse level of the stadium or the fan experience but I do remember the overall experience being neat and I really enjoyed Toronto- More so than Montreal.

#18.5- Olympic Stadium Montreal Expos- (Mid 90s)
This was a REALLY cool experience as we parked across from the stadium and had to use a pedestrian bridge to get to the stadium which allowed for incredible views of the stadium itself. We visited this stadium after the Expos were contracted to move to Washington DC so the fan experience was not superb as I remember there not really being a fan base to speak of. I do remember the Canadians singing LOUD and PROUD during their National Anthem and the stadium singing all in unison which I thought was really neat and something you didn't really hear in most US stadiums. I consider this stadium to be a VERY unique CHECKMARK in my Chase for 30 and most chasers nowadays cannot say they watched a game in Montreal.

#19 RFK Stadium Washington Nationals- 2007
This was a really unique experience as this was the 1st stadium that CHRIS took me to as part of my Chase for 30. We realized this was not a true ballpark to chase as the Nationals were only going to be playing in this stadium for 1 year but I considered this a new stadium. Chris and I really enjoyed this stadium and the feel it had for the US pride and patriotism. We especially liked the mascot race that featured 3 US Presidents (Lincoln won). This will always hold a special place in my heart as Washington DC was the first "real vacation", not including our epic honeymoon in London, Chris and I took together after we were married. I hope to take Chris and the kids back to Washington DC to see the new Nationals Stadium in their Chase for 30. The game was great AND they were playing the ASTROS!

I really appreciated Chris taking me to this stadium even though it was a temporary... I loved starting our Chase together!

#20- Cominskey Park Chicago White Sox- (1996 and 1998)
This south side Chicago stadium was nothing to write home about and the overall experience left much to be desired. I remember the layout of the stadium being a little lack-luster and my family and I not being able to find our seats and walking all over the upper concourse. I also remember my dad being on full alert most of the evening and especially walking back to our car in the far parking lot. Of course, I know I would be having the same anxiety now as the location and neighborhood have only gotten worse. I am glad my kids and I have this one check-marked and I highly doubt we will go out of our way to get this ballpark in Chris's Chase.

#21- Turner Field (1998) and Fulton County Stadium (1989/1990)
My family visited this stadium frequently as the Southern Baptist Convention was held in Atlanta on more than one occasion. I remember Fulton County Stadium being gross and lots of trash but that is about all I can remember. I also remember the thrill of visiting Turner field shortly after it opened and the "new stadium" feeling was still high. I loved the 1990s Braves with Chipper and Andru Jones and I remember my sister having the biggest crush on Chipper Jones and us being able to see him at one of the games. The kids have now been to Truist Field as well in their Chase for 30.

#22- Angels Stadium of Anaheim Los Angeles Angels (2024)
This stadium brought so much joy and excitement to me as it was the penultimate stadium in my Chase for 30. I loved the outside of this stadium and we were able to stay at a hotel within walking distance of the stadium which allowed us to enjoy the surrounding neighborhood and restaurants as well. We loved the delicious HOT Cathy's Cookies within the stadium and since we visited on the Angels Home Opener, the fans were rowdy and the experience was good. The overall stadium left much to be desired and the entire concourse, both upper and lower, seemed cramped to all 4 of us!

Just ONE MORE TO GO- April 2024.
(Stupid Oakland...)

It'll be a the bottom for most of us but memories were made!
Angels Home Opener- April 2024.

#23- Oakland Coliseum Oakland A's (2024)
It's seriously hard to believe I have actually completed my chase and completed it in Oakland nonetheless. Once we planned our trip to LA and I knew the A's were leaving Oakland, I knew I had to complete my chase and I asked my sister, Allison, if she would come with me to San Francisco and she obliged. This was a SUPER special trip as it included my sister, who was with me on the chase during my kid and teenage years. This trip also took place over my birthday weekend as well as the penultimate home-stand (EVER) for the Oakland A's. The ballpark itself was just as run-down as they claim it is and it truly is "The Last Dive Bar" in major league baseball BUT I LOVED IT! We were able to walk around the entire park and see the field up close during batting practice. We even ran into a park manager who gave us upgraded seats along the 3rd baseline just 15 rows from the field. The entire day was just incredible and I am SO GRATEFUL to my sister for coming with me and making this trip so very memorable. THANK YOU ALLISON!

I cannot believe I am FINALLY here!

I loved this lower level area of the stadium. It was actually PACKED and felt like go-old baseball in the 1990s! I LOVED IT!

Life Goal complete- ALL 30 stadiums seen!

This was just so incredibly special to do with my sister!

Thank you Mr. James for the memories!

This was the most special gift I have EVER received. My name on the score board highlighting this accomplishment! Thank you mom, dad and Allie!

#24- ProPlayer Stadium Miami Marlins (2000)
This stadium was complete trash. The fan base was lacking in EVERY thing and the stadium followed the fans and it was just not memorable at all. The actual experience of the game was memorable as the Marlins were playing the Orioles and we were able to see Cal Ripken Jr play in his last season before retirement. We were also able to witness the very few Marlin players give a hard time to the center fielder. Towards the end of the game a few fans thought my dad was Tom Kite, the pro-golfer, and we had fun with that for the last few innings of the forgettable game.

#25- Tropicana Field Tampa Bay "Devil Rays" (since renamed)- 2000
This stadium was newer when we visited and I remember the workers being incredibly nice and the food being good enough to remember. I do not remember the sting ray exhibit that is housed there now but I do remember the very odd looking mascot in a stingray costume. I also remember sitting directly under the jumbo-tron and that was a cool (and kinda odd) experience. The fan base was lacking and the dome made it feel less "traditional" but it was nice to be indoors in the Florida heat.

#26- Citizen's Bank Park (2004) and Veteran's Stadium (1987) Philadelphia Phillies
I visited this stadium as an adult with my family and I really enjoyed the newness that this stadium brought. I loved the GIANT Liberty Bell outside the stadium and the patriotic genre and vibe the stadium gave off. I had also visited Veteran's Stadium with my family but I was much younger and I do not remember anything about that stadium. Citizen's Bank Park is only ranked this low as I just do not remember the experience very well.

#27- Hubert Humphrey Metrodome Minnesota Twins (1995)
This was the first experience I remember watching a baseball game in a dome and I did not like it. The atmosphere and vibe were all wrong and the fans seemed as if they were just watching a movie instead of a baseball game. I remember the hot-dogs being good and having several so I am sure it was a $1 dog night or something similar. This stadium and experience was definitely forgettable. I did enjoy the Mall of America but the MLB stadium was not the highlight of this trip so it was forgettable.

#28- Milwaukee County Stadium Milwaukee Brewers (90s)
This was a very old and run-down stadium but the fan base was very lively. The "Brew Crew" all came in blue and gold colors and yelled their team to victory. I do not remember much about this stadium or experience but my sister falling asleep in my grandma's lap. My kids have been to American Family Field in Milwaukee with my parents and LOVED it!

#29- Tiger Stadium Detroit Tigers (Mid to Late 90s)
This was a very run-down and dirty stadium... but it's Detroit! I remember the entire city and experience being very dirty and gross, and at this point we had been to NYC a few times so if that tells you anything. I remembering touring the Palace of Auburn Hills and being blown away and then getting to Tiger Stadium and it was a dump. The biggest thing I remember about that stadium is getting to our van after the game and a drunk person was literally peeing on the side of our car. My dad yelled at him and he responded "Man, you gotta let me finish". It was SO GROSS and my poor grandma had to step over it to get in the van. We had a great time saying that phrase the rest of the trip but it was SO GROSS.

#30- Riverfront Stadium Cincinnati Reds (1987)
I do not remember much but I remember this being dirty and the workers did not want to be there. I liked the view from the stadium as you could literally see the Ohio River from the upper concourse but the stadium was the 1970-1980s "cookie cutter" stadium that was not unique or individualized at all. I have not been to the new stadium in Cincinnati but the kids have and really enjoyed it!

It is still hard for me to believe that I have completed this life long bucket list adventure. Thanks to my parents, sister, and Chris, I have been able to see SO MUCH of the USA through these trips to see baseball games and I am SO GRATEFUL!  Plus, my parents are now continuing this tradition with my kids and THEY LOVE IT! They already have 23 stadiums checked off their list!

I don't know what I will "chase" now but I know I continue to travel the world with Chris and try to fit in some baseball when possible!

Thank you Dad for this glorious dream and for letting me "tag" along. Thank you Mom and Dad for continuing this tradition with your grandkids- THEY LOVE THIS! Thank you Chris for helping me continue my Chase despite not being the "true baseball fan" that I am. And thank you Allison for going with me to FINISH this chase! I am so grateful to all of you!

Chris's Chase (Not in ranking order but attendance order)
1- Ballpark in Arlington
2- Astrodome and Minute Maid Park
3- RFK Stadium (Nationals)
4- Safeco Field
5- Chase Field
6- Oracle Park * Favorite
7- Petco Park
8- Yankee Stadium
9- Citi Field
10- Dodger Stadium
11- Angels Stadium
