Living in Harmony- Costa Maya

 Costa MAYBE
February 19, 2026
Costa Maya, Mexico

We're still smiling...

Morning
I woke up to a very loud noise that seemed to be the anchor dropping at 6:45AM. The ship had been rocking all night and we could feel the wind in the sways most of the early morning. I got ready for the day and then went to the Windjammer to meet the boys and Natalie stayed in bed a little while longer. We did not book an excursion for Costa Maya as in the past we have not had great luck in porting so we just planned on getting off and going to our favorite Costa Maya spot- The Mayan Healing Spa for a massage on the beach.

How is it already Thursday?

As I made my way to the Windjammer on Deck 16, it seemed as if we parked at the port. However, as I began to get food the Captain came on the announcements to say that we would have to skip Costa Maya due to weather and winds. I mentioned above that we could feel the winds... I could certainly see the wind as I walked to the Windjammer. The boos were loud from the passengers in the Windjammer but this was not uncommon in our experience with Costa Maya. We had to skip Costa Maya on Adventure of the Seas 2023 due to weather and this allowed us to port overnight in Cozumel. Unfortunately, this did not happen again this cruise and we had anther day at sea.

I've never really been a fan of Bloody Mary but when you have the Deluxe Beverage Package, you might as well try! It was actually pretty good and I got one the rest of the mornings!

After breakfast, Chris and I went to the Solarium Hot Tubs and pretty much had the whole thing to ourselves for over an hour before Luke was done with the FlowRider and joined us. TIP- The FlowRider filled up fast as the announcement was made but Luke was able to get 3 sessions (fairly long ride times too) before the line became 10+ people deep.

I decided to wake Natalie up at 10AM and let her know the cancelation before meeting Chris at Boots and Bonnet Pub for live music and drinks. The ship was honestly not too crowded just yet and I was shocked that we did not "feel" the 6K passengers even later in the day, which is truly surprising.

We all decided to meet in the Main Dining Room for lunch to see if the menu would be the "Option #1" or a new menu.  The MDR menu was good and different than that of Sea Day #1 but the service was atrocious. This seems about right since  most of the restaurant waiters were expecting a day off and not having to wait hand and foot on all the passengers. I didn't really mind the terribly slow service knowing how hard these wait staff work.

The MDR Option #3 Lunch Menu

We enjoyed slowing down and all eating together.

Salmon "A La Plancha"
Kellie- 3.0, Luke -2.5

Carrot Cake
Chris- 4.0 and Kellie -3.5

Afternoon
After lunch we met up with the kids in the Boardwalk and we did some people watching before Chris went back to the stateroom to take a nap and the kids went to Deck 15 to play table tennis and other activities. They ended up going down the Ultimate Abyss 5-6 times this afternoon and they loved it. I spent most of the afternoon in the Solarium but the wind was something fierce and the temperatures were a little chilly without a jacket or blanket so I opted to go back to the Boardwalk to Johnny Rocket's to get a shake and watch the kids. TIP- Johnny Rocket's shakes are free with the Deluxe Beverage Package and are delicious. This particular time I had to wait about 10 people deep but it was worth the wait and calories.

We loved getting these shakes for an afternoon snack!

We all met at the Schooner Bar in the later afternoon to play cards and listen to the live music from the piano player. We taught the kids Blackjack and a few other casino games at the bar. Afterwards we all went to the Bionic Bar in the Royal Promenade to get a drink from the AI machines. This also helped cross off another bar on our Bar Crawl on the Harmony of the Seas.

The Bionic Bar is a neat thing to try, especially if you have the DBP, but we didn't frequent this bar very often.

I will say this... My drink was very strong.

You've gotta try this at least once!

After the Bionic Bar, we went to the Casino Bar to cross that one off our list as well while the kids went back to Deck 15 to play mini-golf and table-tennis. TIP- The Harmony of the Seas has a fairly big and wide Casino but the actual Casino Bar was lacking both in chairs and vibes as well. The large TVs showing sports was nice but we prefer other ships, like Jewel of the Seas 2025 Casino bar area.

The Drink of the Day- The Blue Wave
This was SO GOOD!

Hello from the Casino Bar!

This bar just seemed a little small for the size of the Casino!

We waited until after the afternoon Wine Tasting to go to Vintages and this worked out well as they had small tapas plates available for us to try. Unfortunately, these were not as extensive as those we had while sailing on the Allure of the Seas 2023 but still enjoyed them. Ursula and crew took great care of us and we enjoyed our pre-dinner drinks. She was an incredible bartender and really focused on service- one of the best we have ever had!

Evening
We all went to the Royal Promenade outside of the Pub to listen to live Big Band music from the Harmony Orchestra. I personally LOVE this type of live music and these musicians were phenomenal. Even the kids were singing and "dancing" along!

Maybe when I retire I can go and play my saxophone on a cruise ship!

We opted to have dinner in the Solarium Bistro as we have heard wonderful things about this "Upscale Buffet" offering nicer buffet food with a Mediterranean theme. This was a swing and a MISS to say the very least. The food was nothing impressive and to be honest not even warm and the atmosphere was a buffet atmosphere; albeit there was a very large European party exiting as we just sat down so maybe that played into our very low rating but none of us enjoyed this evening and we would not recommend this as a dinner option. After we picked at our food for a good 20 minutes we all decided to leave and go to the Windjammer as it was Mexican Night. This menu in the MDR is nothing to write home about, especially since we live in the Tex-Mex Capital of the world, Houston, but we wanted to check it out.

We are not really "buffet" people but this seemed a little upscale so we wanted to try it out!

This "buffet" had a menu and everything!

But in the end, it was literally just another buffet all "fancied up".
This was not at all our thing and we would not do this again!

The Solarium Bistro... We gave it a try but it is not for us!

The Windjammer options were actually very plentiful and to be honest the food selections themselves were delicious. So much so, that I may actually do a Windjammer dinner on the next 7 day cruise on Mexican night. I was actually impressed and so were Chris and the kids. The buffet is still not our "jam" and we prefer the service of the Main Dining Room but this was good overall. The Solarium Bistro, on the other hand, was AWFUL and just not our thing!

After dinner we went back up to Deck 15 so the kids could play table tennis and while they were doing that, we were able to see the last part of the Aqua Theater Show from Deck 15 which was really cool.

During a walk through the Solarium we were able to definitely see the Harmony showing her age and needing a cleaning... to say the very least!

The kids LOVED this area near Mini-Bites!
And to be honest, these tables were never really crowded or the kids had to wait!

A view of the Aqua Show from Deck 15.

She really is a GORGEOUS ship!

Luke opted to go to bed early as he was tired but Natalie went to the Royal Theater to watch "Wicked for Good" while Chris and I enjoyed live music and drinks in the Pub. The 3 of us ended the night talking to our favorite bartender, Xue, most of the night before going to bed right around midnight.

The day may not have turned out like we planned and I was certainly missing the massage on the beach we planned in Costa Maya, but overall the day was a success and we enjoyed more time exploring the Harmony of the Seas.

Despite missing Costa Maya, it was a GREAT DAY!

Up Next... Snorkeling in Cozumel!

Living in Harmony- Sea Day #2

 Welcome to the Party Chris
February 17, 2026
Sea Day #2

What an EPIC day for CHRIS!

Morning
Everyone got a much better night sleep and I met up with Chris at the MDR for breakfast shortly after 8AM. Once again, the service in the Main Dining Room was fantastic for breakfast. Luke opted to go to the Windjammer for breakfast as he really wanted to be at the FlowRider before 9AM. TIP- This proved to be a wise decision as he mentioned there already being a line around 8:45AM; unlike Sea Day #1 when there was not a line formed until after it opened.

Hello Tuesday!

There are SO MANY places to get food on these MEGA ships!
All offering a wide variety of options!

The MDR Breakfast burrito is surprisingly very tasty and filling!

Luke enjoyed several rounds on the boogie boarding FlowRider before heading to the Main Pool. Chris and I watched Luke live his best life and then spent most of the rest of the morning at the Solarium in the shade. TIP- Not a lot of bars are open before 10AM but the few that are open are on Deck 15 near the Main Pool.

A view of the Main Pool (Deck 15 Midship) around 9AM on Sea Day #2.

Trust me... It doesn't get much better than THIS!
This right here is my perfect day!

Luke with another EPIC morning on the FlowRider!

Check it out... Another great day for Luke on the FlowRider!

At 10:30AM all 4 of us met at the Top Tier Event that was being held in the Aqua Theater for Platinum Guests and higher. TIP- The Crown and Anchor Society is a Loyalty Club for Royal Caribbean International. This begins when you have 30 nights sailing with Royal Caribbean. We are at the Emerald level currently (55 nights) and are striving to be DIAMOND (80 nights) by Summer 2026. This event is awesome because you can see how many guests are sailing on this voyage as well as get to see the highest level cruisers for each sailing. The 2nd highest cruiser of the week was actually from Conroe, TX (our hometown).

This always makes me feel so special to be included in this event!

Even Luke is Emerald on Royal Caribbean!

The numbers for our sailing!
This voyage had 6,390 total passengers (not completely sold out) with 3,207 being Crown and Anchor members. I am always amazed at how many people are Pinnacle PLUS!

During this event the Aqua cast also put on a brief 20 minute show for us and it was nothing short of incredible. The diving, dancing and acrobat performances were so awesome to see and hard to believe we were on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean and not at a show in Las Vegas! We were also able to meet the Captain and Cruise Director- Katie.

This Aqua show was AWESOME and we loved the private showing!

Our Captain was on his last week on board and was ready to go home!

Katie our Cruise Director for England was lots of fun!

After the Top Tier Event we went to the Schooner Bar for the Elvis Trivia. We did not win but we enjoyed singing along!

Afternoon
We opted to go to the MDR for lunch as the 2nd Sea Day menu is typically much better than the 1st Sea Day and this proved to be true on this day. The service was great and even better than dinner, which in our experience is unusual as MDR lunch can be long.  We were also able to talk to JingJin the head waiter from our dinner location about her life in China.

There is typically only 2 Sea Day lunch menus on board and this is the better of the two in our opinion!

The Shrimp Risotto is INCREDIBLE!
Kellie- 5.0, Luke 4.5, Natalie- 4.5

Mozzarella Sticks (had by all)
All- 4.5

Beef Quesadilla
Kellie- 4.5, Luke- 4.0

Chicken and Waffles
Chris- 4.5

White Chocolate Moose
Kellie- 4.5 (It is so rich!)

After lunch, Chris and I went back to the Solarium and laid out in the shade until it was time to meet Natalie and Luke at the Boots and Bonnet Pub for Sports Trivia. Luke tried really hard to win this trivia (and he knew more than we expected) but it was very competitive and we did not win.

A view of the same Main Pool (Deck 15 Midship) around 1:30PM.

We meandered down to Boleros to talk to our bartender friend Yash and the kids played with the Higher or Lower gameshow that was happening. In fact, everyone but me got selected to play and actually WON a Royal Caribbean pen!

Luke was given a question about the Bible.
Higher or Lower- Psalms has 150 chapters. The answer is EVEN!
Luke argued with the Activities worker and he got a pen anyway!
Even other passengers were saying it was incorrect information!

We decided to go back up to Deck 15 to do the Zipline. TIP- Be sure to have closed toe shoes, a shirt with sleeves and "longer" shorts before you get in line. In addition, you cannot have any jewelry or anything in your pockets. Luke was a little unsure about the whole thing but Natalie and I were excited to try this very short zipline. I had experienced this on our 2023 Allure of the Seas and it is AWESOME. Natalie, Luke and I all did the zipline and LOVED it.

As we exited the adventure, Chris all of the sudden out of nowhere says "I will do it you will wait for me". OF COURSE we will wait for you! In the past decade or so Chris has just not shown any interest in the adventurous parts of trips so this truly was a milestone. Due to his Type 2 Diabetes he has lost enough weight as well. Chris was able to experience the Zipline without a line even. In fact, he loved it so much he literally walked off and right back on.

Chris really enjoyed this and I am so glad he opted to do this and have fun with us!
#Corememory

BEST DAY EVER!

After our ziplining experience, we ALL did the Ultimate Abyss as well. Chris was able to do the Ultimate Abyss as well (and we joked, he did not have a heart attack, even). And the kids even took the elevator back to Deck 15 to do it again while Chris and I enjoyed a Johnny Rocket's shake. TIP- The Deluxe Beverage Package and the Refreshment Package both include JR shakes and they are delicious! Be sure to get one (or a few) while you are on board.

Let's go down 10 stories to the Boardwalk... "I'll Race Ya"

Time for another ride on the Carousel!

It was a very adventurous afternoon but we all had a great time. We opted to go to the Schooner Bar for afternoon trivia and then go get ready for dinner in the MDR and an evening of wonderful shows on board the Harmony of the Seas.

Evening
We went to Vintages again for pre-dinner drinks while the kids played more chess outside of Park 150 in Central Park.
Chris and I LOVE Vintages and we really enjoyed talking with Ursula about her life on and off board. We also used our Emerald discount to get a glass of Caymus Cabernet. This is easily some of the best wine we have ever had and usually is $34/glass. With our Emerald discount we each received 2 glasses 50% off. This was well worth it. It is a great way to celebrate our 20 year anniversary in a few weeks.

March 11th is TWENTY YEARS!
Some days it feels like yesterday and other days it feels like a lifetime!
Thank you, Chris Davis, for putting up with me all these years! I do not deserve you, but I am so very grateful for you!

Another gorgeous evening in Central Park on the Harmony of the Seas!

Well worth every penny... It really is the best wine on board!

Where is my little girl?

Our dinner in the MDR was delicious and the service was improving every night, although it was already really fast to be honest. Our wait staff was also very quick to meet any requests we had.

The Taste of Italy menu is really one of my favorites... It has a little something for everyone!

Arancini Balls
ALL 4 of us- 5.0

Caesar Salad
Kellie- 3.5, Luke- 4.5

Mushroom Risotto
Kellie- 4.5 (Not as good as Giovanni's but so rich), Luke-3.5, Chris- 4.0

Sole Filet
Natalie- 3.0, Luke- 3.0

Lasagna
Kellie- 4.0, Luke- 4.5

Tiramisu
Kellie- 4.0, Natalie- 4.0, Chris 4.5

After dinner we walked a little bit on the Promenade Deck 5 outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and walk off our meal a little bit. We also went to watch a dance party in the Royal Promenade before making our way to On Air for karaoke but within a few songs we opted to go elsewhere.

The On Air bar is small but mighty and the venue is great for Karaoke and other visual trivia's!

We then went to the Aqua Theater for the "Fine Line" show. TIP- The Aqua Theater is on Oasis and Icon class ships and offers an incredible Las Vegas style acrobatic show approximately twicer per sailing. Be sure to reserve tickets PRIOR to embarkation if possible as these shows do sell out. Also, they allow entry to the Aqua Theater 45 minutes prior to the show start time and I highly recommend arriving at least 30 minutes early as some views are better than others. There is a "No Reservations" line and 5 minutes before show time they allow anyone to find seats but it's best to reserve these ahead of time.

This show featured athletes performing acrobatic stunts, tight rope stunts, diving from incredible heights and dancing in the water. It was absolutely incredible and easily my favorite show EVER at seas!

After dinner stroll!

It's time for the Aqua Show!

These athletes are just incredible!

The tight rope stunt was really cool...

Until we looked up and realized another person was tight rope walking 3 stories above!

We loved this show...DO NOT MISS THIS!

After the Aqua Theater show Natalie and Luke opted to go get in the hot tub for some late night relaxation while Chris and I went to the Pub. We had met the Pub Bar Manager, Xue from China, earlier in the day and we really enjoyed talking to her so we spent the late night evening in the pub listening to live music. We all ended the evening shortly before midnight as we had a busy day in Roatan the next morning!

It was a GREAT day spent on board and a memorable day with Chris joining our party of fun on the Harmony of the Seas.

What a GREAT Day... We were all Young at heart!

Did you miss Embarkation Day or Sea Day #1?

Up Next- Roatan, Honduras!

God is Good... ALL THE TIME!
