That was Option 2
Falmouth, Jamaica
We woke up around 9:30AM and quickly got ready for the day
and made our way to the Windjammer for breakfast. It was hardly busy at all,
which was a change of pace from the previous few days. In fact, we were so late
that only one side of the Windjammer was open. We got several glasses of freshly
squeezed orange juice and then made our way to the Capitals and Rivers Trivia
in the Schooner Bar. TIP- The Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice is FREE with the Drink Package and is offered in the Windjammer and MDR during Breakfast hours. It is DELICIOUS! This was a trivia that CHRIS actually knew and felt he
could win. It turned out we were one of only 2 teams participating but we ended up
winning this trivia with a score of 9/12 and won a Royal Caribbean key-chain!

After trivia we walked right off the ship, literally, to the
entrance of Falmouth, Jamaica! We ran into Jeffrey, who was setting up a Bluetooth
speaker at the entrance of the ship. We took our customary Cruise Director
pictured and walked with him into the entrance of the port terminal and talked
to him for quite a bit before going our separate ways. INSIDERS INFO- Jeffrey will have a vacation and then report to Allure of the Seas later this year. He mentioned only taking smaller contracts to be with his wife! We LOVED him and especially his "Morning Rant" on Channel 14!
I love this port!
We love you Jeffrey!
He is our only 2x Cruise Director and he has really won us over!
I swear our ships gets more beautiful with each port we stop at!

This would be our 2nd time to Falmouth and we LOVE this port and terminal. Royal Caribbean built this port for Oasis of the Seas 10 years ago
and it is phenomenal, especially for Jamaica. It literally does look like a
movie set. There are lots of little shops and even a craft market in the
middle. Plus, much to our surprise, there was even a Dairy Queen (The Texas Stop
Sign) and a Nathan’s Hot-dogs in a food court setting. The people were
incredibly friendly and were not pushy at all (compared the Nassau and other
Caribbean ports we have frequented).

Falmouth is on the north- northwest side of the island of
Jamaica and is still about an hour from Ocho Rios, where most of the Jamaican
attractions are located. If you want to explore Jamaica and try “Bucket- List
worthy” adventures like Dunns River Falls, the Jamaica BobSled and Cave Tubing
it will require a trip to Ocho Rios. This trip is about an hour by bus EACH
WAY from Falmouth. This is still closer than Montego Bay, where most of the Carnival ships
dock but still requires an hour plus bus ride each way. We have done this bus ride to
and from both Falmouth and Montego Bay before and while we LOVED the adventures
like Dunns River Falls and Horseback Riding, we did NOT enjoy the bus rides.
Remember, Jamaica is still a 3rd World Country and their road system
is not as built up as ours or even as nice as other Caribbean ports. Those were
long and terrible bus rides. In fact, one of our adventures led to our bus
running out of gas. This kinda puts a damper on the day! Plus, it literally
takes ALL day to get to and from, plus the excursion itself. This makes for a
very exciting and albeit tiring day. I HIGHLY recommend you and your family
explore Jamaica, especially if this is your first time to the island, but this
wasn’t at the forefront of our mind this trip.
This was so crazy to me! I do not remember this being there in 2014.
Supposedly one of the best Margaritaville's in the Caribbean.
A stroll along the cobblestone streets of Falmouth!
Afternoon
We kinda had the mindset of “Been there done that” and opted
to stay on the ship after we explored the port of Falmouth. We got back on the
ship in the early afternoon and grabbed some lunch at Windjammer before
spending the rest of the afternoon, literally 4+ hours, in the Solarium pool
and hot tubs. Chris had suffered a TERRIBLE sunburn on his feet from the lack
of shade in Cozumel so he stayed in the pool most of the time. The bar service
was exceptionally good on this day and the drinks were flowing non-stop. We met
several fascinating guests who cruise frequently and we shared stories with
them. Around 4PM, Julie and Nate, found us ("Hi Mr. Davis" scared us both to death thinking it was a kid we teach but it turned out to be Julie) and we spent the rest of the
afternoon and early evening with them in the Solarium pool.
Evening
We then showered and got ready for the night on board. Once
again, we had a GREAT dinner in the MDR with Roy and he even brought me a
surprise. I had asked prior in the week about the SAVORY BITES bread and he
informed me that those little delicacies were no longer in the rotation in the
bakery. TIP- These SAVORY BITES are little bite sized rolls filled with tasty
flavors and seeds. We just LOVE them. He brought me these savory bites on this
night and I was so thrilled. Once again, he continued to amaze me with his level
of service and it was easily the best service we have had at any MDR on ANY
CRUISE LINE.

We talked to our dinner neighbors from Pearland for the majority of dinner. They were a
lovely family of four with a girl in High School and and boy in Junior High. Throughout
the week we could see ourselves and our family in 6 years. We thoroughly
enjoyed getting to know them. The mom and daughter opted to get off the ship in
Jamaica and serve with a volunteer group. They planted flowers and helped at a
local school. This sounded so great but at the same time I felt “I volunteer
with kids each and every day. I’m good”. They asked us what we did with our day in Jamaica and our
response was “We stayed on the ship and enjoyed our drink package but
volunteering was Option #2”.
After dinner we made our way to the aft of the ship to enjoy
the wake for nearly an hour. This is my favorite part of the ship and I just
cannot get enough of it. I could literally stay there and stare at the water
ALL DAY. We enjoyed another sunset and then went back to the Platinum Theater
for the guest comedian. He was much funnier than the woman on night 2.
Chris opted to take a brief nap after the comedy show and I
enjoyed more peace and quiet on Deck 4 outside Promenade. The waves were crashing
against the side of the ship and it was a glorious evening.
We met back up at
Vintages for the 70s Disco Party. TIP- Be sure to check this out. Royal
Caribbean does a great job using the Royal Promenade and we LOVE it. It is
usually on Night 5 around 10PM. Bring your 70s disco clothes and gear if you
have it!
Royal Caribbean has a partnership with Dreamworks and many of the characters make appearances throughout the cruise! The kids (and adults) love it! Check the Cruise Compass for times and locations.

We spent the remainder of the night at the R Bar enjoying
talking to fellow guests and each other about cruising and life in general. Of
course, we grabbed some pizza at Sorrento’s for a late night snack and it did
not disappoint. We went to bed shortly after midnight and we fell asleep pretty
quickly... We were tired!
The 10 Drinks Savings Card showed up on Day 5.
The 10 Drinks Savings Card showed up on Day 5.
This allows you to purchase 10 drinks for $79 (plus gratuity) and can be shared among multiple people. We did this on Liberty #1 and it worked out well for us! Look for it on Day 4 or 5.
Falmouth is a great port and much nicer than Montego Bay but
is still an hour away from all of the main attractions and excursions in
Jamaica. We loved this port and terminal area and enjoyed an afternoon in the
Solarium.
Once again, thanks for following along! I hope this has
helped some of y’all!
