Our COVID-19 Adventures- Week 2

Week 2 of Quarantine
March 22- 28, 2020

We realized during week 1 of quarantine that this is going to be something we have NEVER experienced or anything we could even come up with. We started to settle into our new normal but there were times of fear, frustration and tears were shed.

March 22
HAPPY SUNDAY YALL! After all 4 of us did our morning workouts, we gathered as a family in the Living Room and watched Sunday School and the Worship service from Mims online. It was really special and the kids were REALLY engaged. Afterwards, we completed the devotional my dad (Poppy) made for his church in Arp. It was a wonderful morning of worship as a family from the comfort of our home!

Even Oxford got in on the action! Haha!

We spent the evening completing a special "Bracket" for Fast Food choices. It was really fun and we all laughed and laughed. Afterwards, Luke made a bracket of his own for Animals.

Nationally
The death toll from COVID19 in the USA was up to 452 and we were now the country with the 4th highest infections of the disease.

March 23- HAPPY FIRST DAY OF (ONLINE) SCHOOL
This was our first official day of Online Learning (and teaching) for our district as the previous week WAS an online learning week but it was all REVIEW! It was a long and crazy day of Zoom meetings, lesson planning, team planning and, oh yeah, teaching OUR OWN KIDS their school work. It is our new normal! And it will be a LONG ROAD, I think! But we will survive!

Happy 1st Day of (ONLINE) School!

I swear a FRIENDS reference can apply to just about ANYTHING in life!
Even COVID19!

March 24
This was a day with even MORE Zoom meetings scheduled and a full afternoon of MEETINGS! I originally thought the meetings would be LESS with online learning but boy was I wrong. It was another FULL DAY!
HAHAHA... This is so true!

BUT... I got to TEACH online via Zoom. It was pretty cool!

Mrs. Davis- ONLINE teacher and Zoom extraordinaire (well... Ok, maybe not)!

All 4 of us got our morning workouts in and the kids did their school work in the morning which allowed Chris and I to help them before our afternoon was fully loaded with teaching and meetings. I ran to Walmart to look for Toilet Paper and Eggs and got the eggs... but no toilet paper. The kids helped me make dinner and while it was cooking, all 4 of us cleaned out the pantry! WOOHOO for family togetherness in the kitchen!

Time for a CLEAN and ORGANIZED pantry SELFIE

Locally
Harris County (Houston) declared a "Shelter in Place" for 14 days starting at midnight. It will only be a matter of days before Montgomery County will follow suit!

Nationally
The death toll from COVID19 in the USA was 700. Also, Royal Caribbean is the 1st to EXTEND their suspension of cruising for an additional 30 days (ends on May 12). This now includes our April 12th Liberty of the Seas Cruise and our cruise is official CANCELLED! We were all so very sad!

March 25
Midweek tiredness and boredom had set in and we were all a little stir crazy. Chris and I had Zoom meetings in the morning and were teaching classes/ tutorials in the mid-afternoon. By 3PM we shut it down and decided to continue with our benge watching of 24. We were on Season 1 (having finished Season 3 last week). I opted to go to Taco Cabana to try their $2 margaritas to go. It turned out to be AMAZING and I'm sure we will be back before this is all said and done.

Money well spent... TRUST ME!

In the evening we decided it was time to cut Chris and Luke's hair. A co-worker of Chris's mentioned something so I decided to bite the bullet and just cut it. It was not terrible but trust me... It was not great. I over-cut the front leaving a BIG HOLE for the work to see. Good thing he has blonde/ red hair! And I will NOT be quitting my day job to cut hair... NOPE ain't happening!

Sorry honey... It doesn't look "too" bad!

Even after 14 years... I never thought I would be doing THIS

March 26
This day was a "little" less busy for Chris and I as we did not have as many Zoom meetings BUT Luke did! He was able to see his teacher via a Zoom class meeting for the 1st time in nearly 2 weeks. He was SO EXCITED. He loved every minute of it and even in the 30 minutes of a Zoom meeting, we could tell he was the teacher's helper. He kept saying "Hey Mrs. Wolf, did you know that Nate was muted? We can't hear him". It was adorable!

Luke in his ZOOM meeting with his class and Mrs. Wolf!

While Luke was busy talking to his friends, Natalie and I deep cleaned Luke's room and rearranged his furniture. We were able to move the desk from the playroom to his room so now he has his very own work space! HE LOVED IT!

Say Hello to LUKE's NEW ROOM!

I picked up our HEB curbside order in the afternoon alongside some other "essentials" before coming home, showering and calling it a day! The rest of the day was spent grading and uploading the following weeks lessons, all while trying to get as much family time as possible.

I am VERY GRATEFUL for this HEB Curbside! I didn't even get out of my car and the associate, when talking to me, stayed at least 6 feet away.

March 27
It is ZOOMAPALOOZA DAY. This day was originally a Teacher Work day in our district and they didn't want to lose that day so Chris and I were on Zoom meetings (training really) literally ALL DAY! It started at 8AM and we were not done until nearly 2PM. I was also able to be on a webinar/ Zoom with one of my college professors from OU, Dr. Raiber. He is such an amazing educator and recently got back into the "real classroom" at a MS band director. It was really neat as I got to see lots of familiar Oklahoma band director friends PLUS get tons of ideas for remote learning!

In the afternoon, I went to Home Depot to get my new recliner. I decided during week 1 of this whole mess that I needed a new recliner so up and purchased it around 1AM one morning. I got to Home Depot to learn they were only allowing in people at certain times, to limit the number of people in the store. I waited in the hot sun outside the store for nearly 20 minutes before getting in. I grabbed some random light bulbs and etc and got my chair and left.

The line to get into Home Depot. They had duct tape on the ground to show how to Social Distance. Very well laid out!

There is my new chair. I hope she is comfortable!

I got home and immediately showered and cleaned up before reorganizing the media room and rearranging the furniture. I had planned to wait until Saturday but I just couldn't. With all of our help, we got the Media Room rearranged and my chair put together before 7PM. It looked awesome and will be the perfect "escape" during this whole ordeal.

Part of the new arrangement (including new curtains) for the Media Room

Locally
Montgomery County Judge ordered a "Shelter in Place" until April 13th and all non-essential business would be closed. Good thing we got our HEB order yesterday!

Nationally
By the end of the day there were over 85,000 positive cases in the US alone. The numbers were growing exponentially each day. Especially since testing was more easily available. More Test= More Results.

March 28
It's SATURDAY! Thank Goodness! Maybe we can take a break from all of this Distance Learning stuff. This past week was a little stressful! We started our day with a 3 mile walk... Well, we were supposed to go 3 miles. Around mile 1.5, I fell down stepping off a curb and cut up my knee pretty bad! We went home to get cleaned up. The rest of our day was restful and pretty dead! It was great!

It's time for a FAMILY WALK!

I scraped it up pretty bad but I will survive!

This week was better than last week for Chris and I and the kids had adjusted very well, thus far to the Online Learning. We are just now, after 2 full weeks, adjusting to this new normal and while we DON'T LIKE it, we will survive and overcome this!

But through it all, we know that GOD is still in CONTROL and HE IS STILL ON HIS THRONE! We will continue to look to HIM for answers and continue to pray for this situation and those it is effecting!

Even in the midst of all of this...

GOD IS GOOD! ALL THE TIME!
