Crown Royal and Anchor Society- Cozumel

Tap the Brakes
Cozumel, Mexico
Tuesday, March 12, 2019
Hello from beautiful Cozumel, Mexico!

Morning
How is it Day 3 ALREADY!

The alarm went off at 6:45AM (YUCK... especially on Vacation) but we both slept better, despite the hard bed. We decided to take a sleeping pills and I am really glad we did...We needed the rest.  TIP- Always bring these type of medications with you as you NEVER KNOW what you may need.  We went to the Windjammer for breakfast quickly and then met Julie and Nate in the elevator lobby to get off the ship around 8AM.

I always snap a quick picture of this JUST IN CASE!

TRICK- Due to the Daylight Savings (Spring Forward) time change, we did not have to change our clocks AT ALL on this voyage. We stayed on ship time in EVERY PORT! That is unique and so much easier than trying to set your clock and electronics every few days!

This ship is so HUGE!

I love this ship!

We got a cab really fast and were already at Nachi Cocom by 8:30AM. This was our first time to Nachi Cocom and overall it did not disappoint.

Nachi Cocom Review
It offered an All- Inclusive beach package featuring unlimited bar drinks and food from the menu. There were chaise lounge chairs underneath palapa umbrella coverings. Guests could also move the chairs into the sun as well. The ocean entrance was less rocky than other Cozumel beaches we have been to and the water was crystal clear. The bar service was VERY SLOW getting started but overall we were satisfied. The food was really good in our opinion and better than Paradise Beach and Mr. Sanchos to name a few. Nachi Cocom is a short 15 minute taxi ride from any of the ports in Cozumel. The taxi ride costs between $15-20 depending on the port your ship docks at. This all-inclusive is $55 and worth every single penny. The overall atmosphere was more about rest and relaxation rather than party and we appreciated that. I think this is a GREAT option for a beach day in Cozumel and I highly recommend it. We are headed back to Cozumel in June and we are going to give Mr. Sanchos another try at the all-inclusive option, as we have not been since 2015. We will keep you posted for the side by side comparison!

A view from my hammock!

We spent the day enjoying the gorgeous beach, crystal clear water and the food and beverages offered. I spent nearly an hour in the hammock and Chris took some great naps along the beach. We even found a blue crab in the water! It was a GREAT day and we loved it!

It doesn't get much better than this!

Where's Chris? The water was deep but we loved this!

The Blue Crab Nate and Julie found! He looked really tasty!

This is PERFECTION!

Today was a GOOD DAY!

We really enjoyed Nachi Cocom!

Afternoon
We started heading back to the ship around 2:30PM since the all aboard time was 4PM. We knew with 6 ships (NCL Breakaway, Carnival Fantasy, Carnival Miracle, MSC Divina and Brilliance of the Seas) and nearly 20K passengers in Cozumel, the road back to the piers would get busy and we were right. About a mile out,  there was HEAVY, stand still traffic. In fact, the traffic was so bad near the International Pier (where Royal Caribbean docks) that our taxi driver dropped us off ACROSS the street from the terminal. This was a true first for us in 13 times visiting Cozumel and very aggravating for sure! TIP- Be sure to start heading back towards your ship at least an hour before the all aboard time. Depending on the number of ships and passengers in port, it takes a WHILE to get back!

Hahaha... Never a dull moment!

We got back on the ship before 3PM and took showers and rested up before heading back to the Deck 4 Promenade to watch for Pier Runners. Fortunately, there weren't any true pier runners, although many arrived after the 4PM all aboard time.  The Liberty of the Seas was in port from 7AM to 4PM and the all aboard time was 4PM. This seemed really odd to us as usually the all aboard time is 30 minutes prior to departure. We are not sure why Royal had the 2 events at the same time but needless to say, we were about 20-25 minutes late leaving Cozumel. The Liberty of the Seas set sail for Grand Cayman at 4:27PM, meaning we were about 30 minutes behind schedule.

This was around 3:30PM.

Our Cruise Director, Jeffrey, was AMAZING! He was even helping load up all the supplies as we left late! More on him later...

Leaving Cozumel... a time lapse special!

Goodbye Cozumel! We will see you in 100 days!

Evening
We watched sail away from Deck 4 promenade and then went to an early dinner in the Main Dining Room. Roy did not disappoint yet again and we had a GREAT meal. In fact, we made a special request for SAVORY BITES from the pantry and Roy promised to deliver! TIP- It NEVER HURTS to ask for just about anything on a cruise. You never know what they can get! We even met a lovely couple from San Antonio who were veterans. We talked to them for a while and enjoyed their company! Thank you Sir for your service!

After dinner we went outside to watch another sunset and it was near perfect! The weather was gorgeous and God painted, yet again, another beautiful picture on the horizon line! Thank you God for this simple reminder of your Omnipresence and illustration for Your love and promises for us!

I love the pictures God paints!

Another view from the aft of the Deck 4 Promenade!

Goodnight Cozumel! We love you!

After the sunset we went to 80s music trivia in the Schooner Bar. This is a must do for us on any cruise and this time did not disappoint. We came in about 10 minutes before it was supposed to start and it was already jam packed. We ended up teaming up with 2 couples and our team of 6 won the whole thing! We won (DRUM ROLL PLEASE)… A Royal Caribbean Highlighter! Good thing since mine from 2015 is almost out of ink! INSIDERS Thoughts- This is an area where I feel Royal Caribbean is lacking. I very much appreciate the “Piece of Ship on a Stick” Trophy that Carnival gives out.

You know you're sailing on a ship from Texas when you see Dr. Pepper!
Thank you Royal Caribbean for meeting the needs of us Texans!

The Day 3 Drink Special.
TIP- If you do not have the Drink Package, Royal Caribbean will have a different drink each day on Special for about $3-4 less than usual. It is a good way to go if you do not want to do the drink package! We tried the "Drink of the Day" everyday!

After trivia we made our way to the Lido deck to check out the movie playing on the pool big screen. The Royal Caribbean Ap that we had downloaded, had the entire Cruise Compass available; however it was often incorrect. We arrived expecting to see one of the new Harry Potter movies at 9PM but instead it was only 10 minutes from the end. We watched the ending and then stayed for the next movie which was Second Act featuring Jennifer Lopez. We had to leave early but even the first 30 minutes had us hooked.

We met Nate and Julie at the Platinum Theater to see the late night adult comedy show featuring a lady from Last Comic Standing. She was not funny, like at all, and we were disappointed with her. After the show we made our way to the Hoof and Claw Pub on the Royal Promenade to listen to live music with Nate and Julie before calling it a night after midnight.

Late night snacks from Cafe Promenade.
TIP- The Roast Beef sandwich was AMAZING!

It was a GREAT day spent on the Mexican Island which has become our home away from home. I swear we visit so often, we practically pay taxes! But, seriously, we LOVE Cozumel! The people are so nice and we love the beaches and waters as well.

A recap of our day in Cozumel!

Once again, thank you so much for following along!

Next up... Georgetown, Grand Cayman
God is good… ALL the time!
