Our COVID Adventures- Week 7

Week 7 of Quarantine
April 26th - May 2nd

April 26th
It's Sunday and another day spent watching Poppy and Bro. Jerry preach online. We have really enjoyed getting to hear both my Daddy and our regular preacher each week. Plus I have been sharing their sermons online and friends have been able to hear the Gospel who made not have heard in the past. It has been a blessing. We also had another round of Baking with Auntie Allie and made a strawberry cake! It was delicious! Thank you Auntie Allie!

They LOVED baking with Auntie Allie!

April 27th
I got in my morning miles at Irons Track as the boys played baseball and Natalie kept Oxford on a tight leash. This became a daily ritual and we all really enjoyed it! I joined a small group of Oklahoma Band Director friends, including my OU MUED professor Dr. Raiber, in discussions about how we can make music learning better in this weird time we are living in. Natalie was also able to complete her FRIENDS Lego set! She did an AMAZING job!

This was a 16+ year old Lego Set and she did it all on her own! I was SO PROUD OF HER!

April 28th
It's TACO Tuesday and that means I take the kids to Taco Bell for the FREE Doritos Loco taco. This started back on Week 2 and thanks to Taco Bell this became a weekly ordeal. This was also a very heavy Zoom day for both Chris and I as we started to get grading concerns taken care of begin to think about the end of the year.

This boy ate 7 tacos today! NO LIE!

He is growing!

April 29th
This was another morning spent at the track and afternoon on Zoom. Natalie had somewhat of a struggling day as she was just emotional not being able to see her friends and get back to a routine. She was very frustrated and even shed a few tears in sadness of missing all her friends.

Locally
More testing sites opened up in Montgomery county and that meant that the numbers of positive cases continued to get higher. Governor Abbot announced Phase 1 of the "Re-Open Texas" plan and now restaurants could open at 25% capacity. Bars could open as well.

Nationally
New York was still the epicenter of this pandemic nationally and their cases continued to get higher as each day they put up a daily record high of positive cases. It seemed as if this virus was NEVER GOING AWAY! President Trump announced all Governors would have the authority to open as they wish and even County judges will make their own rules for reopening!

April 30th
We tried to continue to take our minds off of missing our sweet Abbey by spoiling Oxford as much as we could. We spent our morning running and afternoon working on lesson plans, zoom meetings and teaching videos. This was our new normal.

Luke's teacher, Mrs. Wolf, dropped by to give Luke his "BOOK" that he and his class made back in December. This is one of the best teachers I have ever had the experience of knowing. She LOVES her kids! Luke was so excited to see her!

Thank you Mrs. Wolf for all you do! We love you!

May 1st- HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS
It is Chris's 42nd birthday and we were not going to let COVID spoil it, well as much as we could. As much as we wanted to go out to eat for his birthday, we opted to stay home and order in his favorite foods from his favorite restaurants. We had Whataburger breakfasts, Willie's Shrimp Po-Boy for lunch and Outback Steaks for dinner. Plus a great COOKIE CAKE for dessert. Chris got a new CHARCOAL Grill for his birthday from my parents and we had a shopping spree at HEB for steaks and burgers. It was a glorious weekend of grilling!

This man LOVES his Cookie Cakes! LSU colors of course!

Look at these HUGE Pork Butt Steaks!

(Haha, Luke LOVED this name)

Locally
Governor Abbot starts Phase 1 of the "Re-Open Texas" plan. Most stores and restaurants opened with 25% capacity.

May 2nd
We ran at the track in the morning (even Chris got a mile in jogging) and then I took Natalie to see her friends and play in their yard while we waited for Kona Ice. She was so happy to be able to see her friends again! She even got on Hannagrace's bike and was able to ride it, without training wheels. In fact, I didn't even help her. She just picked it up! It was weird... And neat! I guess I am now in the market for a new bike!

Natalie, Sarah, Hannagrace and Mrs. Susan playing with confetti in the yard!

My girl was SO HAPPY!

We LOVE Kona Ice!
Thank you Hannagrace for the invitation!

This was a good week of birthday celebrations and preparations for the end of the school year. I THINK I can see the light at the end of the tunnel... I think!

But through it all, we know that GOD is still in CONTROL and HE IS STILL ON HIS THRONE! We will continue to look to HIM for answers and continue to pray for this situation and those it is effecting!

Even in the midst of all of this...
